About ME

My name is Joanie Burroughs and I'm a micro baker working under the Cottage Food Operations, division of food safety in Florida. I bake cakes, cupcakes, cookies, tasty treats, bread and more and I sell it out of the most adorable farm stand sitting in my front yard. I've finally decided to stop dreaming of baking for a living, and actually do it. I believe that good food should be available to everyone and that you don't need to settle for what grocery stores sell you. Even in your delicious deserts, clean ingredients make all the difference in the world. it's time we take a stand and feed our families a better quality food. I'm making this my mission, to bake food that can be enjoyed, food that we can be proud to serve our loved ones. It's time to stop depending on stores to sell us food that wont made us sick, covered in pesticides, or grown in a lab. I myself suffered a very serious episode with A Fib and had to have my heart stopped twice because it was beating 250 beats a minute. That's some scary stuff! It was brought on by fish I purchased from our local Walmart. As I laid in that hospital bed I said you need to made a change, bake for your community and feed them clean food, this is where Cottage Cakes By Joanie started. I promise to serve you food that will be amazing, with new things coming daily. I love the holidays so that will be my time to really shine, and serve you fun and exciting things geared to each season. Thank you for taking the time to read about me, I really appriciate you! I bake using the highest quality ingredients and have developed over time my own special flavors of icing. The one I'm most know for is my chocolate anise icing that is absolutely incredible, it showcases my Italian heritage and is perfect for the holiday season.
